U by Kotex Tampons Recalled over Safety Concerns

[:en]Kimberly-Clark who is the parent company behind feminine care line Kotex, has issued a  voluntary recall for their brand of U by Kotex Sleek Tampons due to product safety concerns.

What is the safety concern involving the U by Kotex Tampons?

Some women have had to seek medical attention after having pieces of the tampon left in their bodies as well as vaginal irritation. As of now, the recall only applies to the regular absorbency tampons from the U by Kotex Sleek line.

How is this occurring?

According to an article by the Washington Post, some women reported that the tampons were unraveling and coming apart inside of their bodies. Other reports have mentioned ” irritation, infections, injuries and abdominal pain” as problems occurring in the U by Kotex Sleek product line.

How do I know what products are affected?

The tampons being recalled were manufactured between the dates of October 7th, 2016 through October 16th, 2018. The dates to which they were marketed to customers were October 17th, 2016 through October 23rd, 2018. The tampons also come with specific lot numbers, with those numbers being listed on the Kotex website. Those who find they do have any of the affected tampons should throw them away.
