Hail Storm Dangers: Are You Prepared?

Although spring is in full swing in Denver and warmer weather is here, drivers are not out of the woods yet. Hail season has begun, here are some things to keep in mind if you encounter hail while driving.

No Stopping Under an Overpass

Fox 31 Denver has an article on the illegal nature of stopping under an overpass during a hail storm. Colorado State Patrol (CSP) noted while it may seem like a good idea, this is an illegal move that can be ticketed by police and could result in causing an automobile accident.

Be Prepared for Changing Conditions

This time of year the weather can change in an instant. If you notice weather sweeping through while driving, consider pulling off to a safe spot to wait out the elements if your vision becomes reduced.

Plan Your Driving Time

If you are able, consider waiting to head out on the road if you notice severe weather heading towards your location that could make driving more difficult. Also look at other ways to get around such as public transportation or ride sharing if you don’t feel comfortable driving in severe weather.
