[:en]Monsanto is asking a federal judge to throw out the $80 million dollar verdict from a Roundup lawsuit awarded to Edwin Hardeman in March 2019.

Monsanto (and its parent company Bayer AG) are claiming that the plaintiffs lawyers did not provide any solid scientific evidence, as well as ignoring the judge’s orders involving expert testimony according to an article by Legal NewsLine.
Monsanto and Bayer AG’s Long Shot Defense
The odds are not in favor however for the company. During the trial Judge Vincent Chhabria rejected these types of arguments before. Monsanto and Bayer AG have also tried what is known as a “silver bullet” defense asking for all pending Roundup lawsuits and current verdicts to be overturned because the EPA has stated that glyphosate is not a health risk.
Roundup Cancer Lawsuits Continue
Roundup has also recently made waves internationally, with lawsuits filed in Canada and Australia. Federal lawsuits are currently paused while mediation is ongoing, however a new lawsuit could be on the horizon in August, 2019.
