Bayer AG has experienced significant financial losses after the company has been hit with several large verdicts involving the weed killer Roundup.
Health Concerns about Roundup Cause Profits to Tank
With the most recent Roundup jury verdict exceeding $2 billion dollars, Bayer AG has seen their market value decrease to new low levels not seen in almost seven years, according to a Reuters article.
Monsanto Corp was bought out in the summer of 2018 by Bayer AG. They are the creators of the herbicide Roundup. With news of the recent studies that Roundup can cause serious health issues and jury verdicts, the company has seen it’s net worth go down.
Monsanto Lawsuits Continue to Grow
The battle isn’t over for Bayer AG. They are still facing upwards of 13,000 pending lawsuits from individuals who claim using Roundup caused them to develop non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma or other serious forms of cancer (get more details about those lawsuits here).
