Kenneth Feinberg To Mediate Roundup Lawsuits

Attorney Kenneth Feinberg has been appointed by U.S. District Judge Vince Chhabria as the mediator between Monsanto and plaintiffs who have lawsuits against the company over their weed killer product Roundup. The lawsuits are based on claims that exposure and using Roundup has caused them to develop Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

What is Roundup Mediation?

When two parties enter into mediation, it means they are both open to discussing settlement in their particular claims.

Monsanto and Plaintiffs Disagree

According to a Reuters article Mr. Chhabria named Mr. Feinberg to the role of mediator after both sides were unable to agree on a selection. Mediation was ordered on April 11, 2019.

Roundup Adds To The List

Mr. Feinberg already has had significant experience as a mediator in high-profile cases. He has helped mediate for events such as the BP oil spill/explosion and the VW emissions case.

More Roundup Cancer Lawsuits to Come

Even though mediation is beginning, Mr. Chhabria has still set the next Roundup trial to begin in February of 2020, so Monsanto is not done with legal issues yet. This could potentially spell trouble for the company, as the last trial Mr. Chhabria presided over, the plaintiff Edwin Hardeman won an $80 million dollar verdict.
