FDA/CDC Take Vaping Investigation Global

Investigations into vaping and the serious lung injuries it can cause are going global, USA Today reports.

Cutting Agents in Vaping

According to the CDC’s principal deputy director, Anne Schuchat, the investigation is taking a turn into looking at the supply chain, and if the source of the problem can be identified there. “The supply chain now has a lot of risky products … We know there have been practices around the use of cutting agents to essentially increase the profit from selling cartridges.” Many of the lung injuries surrounding vaping are from vapes in which THC is used.

Vitamin E Acetate

One of the biggest factors that investigators are looking into is Vitamin E Acetate. Vitamin E Acetate is the oil is used to thin the THC oil and has been reported to cause severe lung injuries in a number of vape cases.

The CDC is cautioning individuals not to use vapes with THC, as the risk of lung damage can be high.
