Police Officer Hurt in Accident at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park

An officer was injured yesterday July 4, 2019, while directing traffic for Independence Day festivities in Commerce City.

According to an article by ABC Denver Channel 7, the incident occurred at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park at around 6 p.m. before the start of a soccer match between the Colorado Rapids and the New England Revolution. The officer was knocked to the ground by a driver who “was not paying attention to directions” according to a statement from another officer. 

Precautions Taken

The officer was taken to the hospital as a precaution and is believed to not have severe injuries at this time. Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be a factor in the incident, however, police are currently conducting an investigation at this time and gathering more information.
