Johnson & Johnson Subpoenaed Over Baby Powder

Johnson & Johnson announced that they have received subpoenas from both the Department of Justice (DOJ) as well as the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in relation to the safety of their baby powder.

Have there been additional requests made by the government?

Yes. U.S. Senator Patty Murray from Washington State submitted her own request to the company to provide documents over claims of asbestos in their talcum powder products which includes their baby powder.

Has Johnson & Johnson issued a response to the subpoena?

Not yet. The company continues to stand by the safety of its products, even going so far as to launch an online ad campaign (read more about that here). The company has found itself hit with a multitude of lawsuits over claims that their baby powder causes mesothelioma and ovarian cancer in women (read about the most recent trial here).
